03/16/14 Flagstaff, AZ to Lake Havasu City, AZ

We drove some long days to get to Lake Havasu City, Arizona but upon our arrival they were all worth it. The sun was shinning and the temps were in the 80's. We met up with Joe and Mary Ann, our friends from Vermont who are now winter residents here, and took a little tour of  London Bridge. Yes you read that right London Bridge was sold, dismantled and brought here to be reassembled. March is also Spring Break time and the area near the water is teeming with college coeds anxious to celebrate just about everything.

and flowers in bloom!

From London Bridge we made our way out on the Island to check out a closer view of the lake. There are many small light house replicas along the lake.

The real reason we had driven so long to get here on Sunday was to be able to go to "The Desert Bar" It is an old mine that on weekends from High noon to 6 pm becomes a unique Bar with live music from October thru April . . . it is just too hot in the summer to be open here. It is located  5 miles up a winding sometimes narrow dirt road. We were amazed at the number of people who made the trek and were told this was not really a busy weekend. Pictures just do not do it justice . . . it was an experience . . .and as the advertisement says . . . .priceless.

Thanks to Joe and Mary Ann for bringing us here. . . .a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon in the desert.

Tomorrow is another day of fun in the sun in Lake Havasu City.
