I should start the blog today by wishing our daughter Karen a very Happy Birthday! We are looking forward to our visit next week.
We started the day with breakfast at the hotel which was the same idea everyone else in the hotel had . . . it was crazy busy so we got some food and took it back to our room to eat. From the hotel we headed toward Zion National Park stopping for some ice and water as well as a few geocaches along the way.
Once again we were glad to have the Senior National Park Pass. This time it saved us $25. A quick trip to the visitor center to get my magnet, pin and a postcard and we were off to explore the park. One thing to keep in mind if you are ever visiting National Parks with dogs is that they aren't really very pet friendly. There are very few trails if any where you can take pets for a hike. This isn't really a problem for us right now as Trixie is 15 and not much of a hiker anymore. The temperature is also cool enough here that we can leave her for a few minutes without worrying.
I am going to post some pics from the park but in all reality there is just no way to capture the beauty of the landscape here.
After leaving Zion we headed toward the hotel in Cedar City which took us on a winding road with lots of signs saying that is only plowed during daylight hours in the winter . . . very intimidating and then we realized why . . . .we were very high and the scenery looked like
then we made a long steep winding descend down . Tomorrow we will be taking the same road as we head to Bryce National Park for the day. Al is going to be the driver.
