03/23/14 Time with Topher and Pam

Sunday started off with a light breakfast at the hotel because we had planned to take Toe and Pam to brunch when they made it down the canyon to the city. We really began our day at Roots Cafe a very nice eatery known for fresh local foods. . . .the wait was going to be 30-40 minutes so we had time to browse the antique/gift shop that shared the building. We really don't need to fill up any more spaces and theoretically should be trying to downsize, but that is a whole separate discussion. We didn't make any purchases but Toe got a nice Saturday Evening Post picture of a skier for his cabin. After brunch we headed to Red Butte Gardens on the University of Utah grounds.

It's time to plant annuals in Utah
From the gardens we headed up into the canyon. Toe and Pam have a very cute cabin close to the skiing but wow it was so nice down in the valley and nearly freezing up at their house.
The view from their living room

Over 5' of snow on the side of the deck
We chatted for awhile and then the kids made a wonderful dinner for us . . . roast chicken, sweet potato, salad and spaghetti squash . . . with a shot of Vermont Maple Liquor for dessert.

We had a great time visiting with Topher and Pam. They are gracious hosts and fun to be around.  Tomorrow it is time to continue our adventure in Idaho.
